    We are seeking high functioning and energetic candidates for a full-time Senior Business Development Officer position for the New York City area. The Business Developer is responsible for generating new business opportunities to support revenue and profitable growth.  The candidate we seek will meet the following requirements:


    • Develop and maintain a high-level understanding of solutions, products and services
    • Participate at a leadership level with key community organizations and seek opportunities to generate positive public awareness
    • Leverage community relations and development centers of influence to generate leads and facilitate introductions
    • Keep abreast of current trends and new business development opportunities
    • Support market growth and achievement of revenue and profitability goals
    • Profile and understand prospective client needs and match those requirements to Mariner’s offerings
    • Manage a healthy sales pipeline
    • Ensure effective and complete communication to prospective clients
    • Engage and communicate prospective client needs to Mariner’s wealth advisory and partner firms
    • Represent and communicate various investment strategies and solutions to prospective clients
    • Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, lead generation and closed sales
    • Collaborate with appropriate business leaders to conduct joint sales calls, prepare proposals /presentations and consult on pricing


    • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field from an accredited college or university
    • 5+ years’ experience in the financial services industry
    • Proven success selling to new and existing clients
    • Experience working with individuals at all levels of an organization, specifically with executive-level decision-makers
    • Series 65 license preferred or ability to obtain
    • Demonstrated knowledge and facilitation of sales cycle / process
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
    • Problem solving, negotiation and persuasive communication skills
    • Effective written communication skills with ability to adapt to different audiences
    • Effective oral communication skills with ability to address individuals and groups in formal and informal settings
    • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, prospective clients, internal and community contacts
