Mariner is seeking an Operations and Trading Systems Support Associate in the Overland Park, Kansas office. The primary responsibility is to support the Mariner Trading/Operations team which will include processing trades requested by advisors, troubleshooting and improving upon current processes within multiple trading systems, and providing exceptional service and support to our internal teams.

 

This is an entry level opportunity on an operations team that is growing quickly, giving associates significant opportunity for growth.  People that are successful in this role have high expectations for themselves, are accurate and have a strong sense of urgency, and are excited to learn software skills.

Responsibilities

  • Trade execution as requested by advisors with focus on accuracy and timeliness. This does not involve decision making on trades, but rather simply executing a high volume of trades as requested (An estimated 50% of the role will be daily trade processing.)
  • Complete cross checks around trading as needed and recommend improvements to current processes
  • Process trades and become a subject matter expert in multiple systems and technologies
  • Work closely with and provide a high level of customer service to our internal teams. Form strong working relationships with custodians and software providers.
  • Collaborate with team and cross functional areas on projects ranging from software discovery/implementation, onboarding of new firms to current trading systems and processes, improvement of current processes utilizing available technology, etc.
  • Build solid relationships with wealth advisory teams and other departments within Mariner including investments, compliance, etc.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple time sensitive tasks
  • Strive to fully understand underlying processes and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other related business major preferred
  • Works well independently with minimal supervision; Self-starter
  • Able to handle multiple tasks with appropriate sense of urgency
  • Highly accurate in time-sensitive situations
  • Sound decision-making abilities
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, time-management, and organization skills
  • Results oriented
  • Excellent customer service skills in order to provide optimal service to our internal clients
  • Experience with various trading systems, a plus (Orion, Advent’s Moxy, Tamarac, etc)
  • High degree of technical aptitude, must be able to quickly learn multiple software programs
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 is preferred, but not required
